Indian Railways: This French company received a big railway order of ₹ 1,285 crore, work will start from August 2026

French’s well-known company Alstom has signed a big deal with Indian Railways. The company has received a contract of Rs 1,285 crore for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Under this project, Alstom will supply traction components and other electrical components for 17 sleeper train sets.

Alstom will not only give a component, but will also take care of their maintenance. This service will be provided for the next five years after the warranty is over. This work will be done at various depots of Indian Railways. These 24 coaches Vande Bharat sleeper trains will run at a maximum speed of 180 kmph and service speed of 160 kmph. These trains will not only be sharp, but will also be more comfortable for the passengers.

Where will the supply of components be done?

The Alstom in Component will supply the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where these trains will be prepared. Alstom has the largest component portfolio in the railway industry. The company has production and engineering facilities in Savali, Coimbatore and Maneja. The main work of this project will be done on the Maneja site.

The first prototype of this project will be ready by August 2026. This will then start mass production from 2027.
