The Finance Ministry has advised its employees to avoid the use of AI tools including chatjiPT and DeepC in government work. It has been said, citing a possible risk for confidentiality of government documents and information. This has been revealed by an internal departmental advisory.
Countries such as Australia and Italy have imposed similar restrictions on the use of DeepC, citing data security risks.
Before the visit of OpenAI chief Sam Altman’s visit to India, reports of this advisory started to broadcast on social media on Tuesday. Altman will also meet the IT minister of India.
The advisory issued by the Finance Ministry on January 29 states, ‘It has been decided that data (government) and documents using AI Tools and AI apps in office computers and equipment (such as chatjiPT, deepcick etc.) Puts risks to privacy. ‘
For this information, no response came until the news of the Email sent to OpenAI and Dipcik, the original company of the Ministry of Finance, ChatjiPT, did not come to the answer. But three officials of the Finance Ministry confirmed this news and said that a note was issued internal this week.
However, the Reuters could not immediately get information whether similar instructions have been issued in other ministries.
OpenAI is facing criticism in the country due to a high-profile case of copyright violations with India’s top media groups. The petition states that there is no server of it in the country and hence Indian courts should not hear it.
