The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to create a data city near Visakhapatnam. This will include data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) hubs. The project is part of the election promise of the Telugu Desam Party, which targets 2 million jobs in five years. This data city, produced in Madhurwara (near Visakhapatnam), will spread over 500 acres. In this, big IT companies will provide their technical services. The government has started land acquisition for this project.
Under this, Google will be given 80 acres of land, where the company will create its own data center. A compromise (MOU) has been reached between Google and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will get 30 acres of land.
Data city will be made on the lines of Hitech City
This idea belongs to Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Nara Lokesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu is the son of Naidu, who has previously played the lead role behind the success of Hitech City, Hyderabad. During the World Economic Forum (WEF), Lokesh interacted with the CEO of Temacek Holdings and Cognizant in Singapore. During the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Lokesh interacted with big companies like Temacek Holdings and Cognizant about this project. He said, “We are going to make Visakhapatnam the next big tech hub of India. IT, data centers and AI companies have tremendous interest. ”
The government plans that a big company came here first, so that other companies should also be interested in investing. Just as Microsoft started in Hyderabad, Google can play this role in Visakhapatnam.
Focus on tourism and development
After the joining of the main companies, the government is also considering a plan to promote tourism in the region. Through this, efforts will be made to increase investment in the state and strengthen the economic situation.
After separating from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh has adopted the way to decentralize development. Recently, the state has announced a new policy on ‘Demographic Management’. It will emphasize on healthcare, social security and community welfare.
Governor S. Abdul Nazir in his speech on Republic Day mentioned the demographics change in the state. He said that problems such as the total fertility rate (TFR) in the state, increase in aged population and breakdown of traditional family structure are facing problems. The government will invest on healthcare, social security and community welfare schemes.
Competition to become a digital hub
Andhra Pradesh is competing with Telangana and Maharashtra to pose in the field of data centers. Like these states, Andhra is also trying to strengthen digital infrastructure and attract international investors.
