Transferring PF now becomes easier, EPFO changed the rules; Know the new rules and how to link Aadhaar

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced reforms to simplify the online transfer claim process in some cases. Implementing this change is likely to help streamline the PF transfer process, reduce delays and increase efficiency. By using Aadhaar Card and keeping the information of members the same, EPFO is trying to ensure a smooth transition for employees who are changing jobs.

Employer intervention is no longer required for Member IDs issued after October 1, 2017 and linked to the same Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to Aadhaar.

Similarly, a simpler procedure applies for transfer between member IDs linked to different UANs issued after October 1, 2017, but linked to the same Aadhaar.

For Member IDs issued before October 1, 2017 and linked to UAN linked to Aadhaar, it is mandatory to have the same name, date of birth and gender in both the accounts to simplify the transfer process.

Transfer can be made between member IDs linked to different UANs, provided at least one UAN has been issued before October 1, 2017 and is linked to the same Aadhaar number. This rule applies when the name, date of birth and gender on all member IDs are identical.

Fast Transfer: In some cases the transfer process has been expedited by removing the employer requirement.

It will be easy to manage: Members can manage the transfer process directly on the EPFO portal.

Transparency will increase: If the online transfer claim process is easy, it will increase transparency and reduce dependence on the employer.
